HHH and Old St. Pat’s

As someone who had never before attended Old St. Pat’s, I was very unsure what to expect when I went to see Harmony, Hope & Healing lead worship at the 11:15 am mass last month. The service was packed and strong voices filling the entire space. It was a wonderful sight to behold!

Harmony, Hope & Healing is at Old St. Pat’s once a month. Come experience worship with us on Sunday, October 28th at 11:15 am. If you are interested in singing with the choir, all you need to do is arrive for rehearsal at 10:45.

Also, there will be a Meet & Greet after the service on October 28th, so be sure to stick around!

A Word from the Intern

Hello everyone!

My name is Hannah Holtgeerts and I have been interning here at Harmony, Hope & Healing for the last month or so. I am finishing my last year at DePaul University and double-majoring in Relational Communication and Media and Cinema Studies. As you can see, there have been some major changes to the website, I’m currently finishing the Holiday Appeal letter with the help of Sue and Marge, and another big media project is in the works. Stay tuned!

These are the logistics of what I’m doing here – the concrete things that might end up on a resume down the road. What I want to do now is reflect on those other parts of my time with HHH that won’t end up on a website otherwise. I want to talk about the relationships that I am honored to encounter in this place.

First off, the people served through these programs are stunning, silly, strong, broken, healing, growing, learning, and moving forward in their lives just like everyone else on this planet. I have been gifted with the laughter of Pre-K children at St. Martin’s, the fearless chorus of the Seniors at Vincennes Center, the clear voices of the Ensemble ringing out with the hundreds gathered at Old St. Pat’s, and the sing-song interactions of working at the office. Initially I knew Harmony, Hope & Healing as that group of incredible women who had overcome addiction and had an amazing song and story to share. This is HHH, to be certain, but I am learning that Harmony, Hope & Healing is also so much more. It’s a rapidly-growing organization that is constantly being asked to provide services at new sites. It is a bridge that connects people like me to people like you. It is a community that nurtures the humble joy of striving through our struggles and knowing that we are not alone.

Overall, I cannot say enough about my experience here. It has been tremendously challenging, life-giving, and awe-inspiring. I couldn’t ask for more.
