Harmony, Hope & Healing is excited to expand our programming with Chicago HOPES for Kids to serve Su Casa Catholic Worker Community.
Two Wednesday afternoons a month, we’ll work with Chicago Hopes to focus on social and emotional learning (SEL), relationship building and the cultivation of peace through music and movement.
Here’s what the folks at Su Casa, which is located in the Back of the Yards community, have to say about themselves:
Though Su Casa’s mission began as a shelter for refugees of Central-American civil war, we now primarily serve Spanish-speaking homeless families of Chicago, many of whom are women and children escaping domestic violence. We accommodate an average of five families at a time, offering a maximum one year stay for each.
As at Primo Center, we plan to partner with Chicago Hopes to provide a musical component to their tutoring programs. We hope to provide a creative outlet for this new community of students!
